Real Madrid TV has launched a new piece of content attacking fellow referee Gil Manzano ahead of this weekend’s La Liga clash with Celta Vigo.
The Madrid-based channel has previously been outspoken about referees and last week aired a video criticising referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetia on Thursday. The programme
claimed that Real Madrid had won only 64 per cent of the games that De Burgos had officiated, compared to Barcelona’s 81 per cent win rate under his control. The commentator called
the difference between the two clubs “incredible”, questioned De Burgos Bengoetia’s abilities and highlighted the mistakes he alleged had been made throughout his career in the video.
De Burgos Bengoetia held a press conference on Friday expressing his regret. He burst into tears as he defended his integrity.
Less than a week after the previous accusations, Los Blancos have hit out at another referee, Gil Manzano, who will officiate Sunday’s match against Celta Vigo.
A new video has dubbed Manzano ‘the referee at the centre of the biggest refereeing scandals of recent years’.
The scandal may have centred on Manzano’s decision to deny Real Madrid a victory more than a year ago in a 2-2 draw at the Mestalla with Valencia.
In the ninth minute of stoppage time, แทงบอล UFABET ราคาดีที่สุด ไม่มีขั้นต่ำ the fourth official held the ball to seven minutes of added time. At that moment, Real Madrid were awarded a corner which was headed clear
but, with the ball still alive, was quickly crossed back into the penalty area to England star Jude Bellingham.
It looked like a crucial opportunity for the visitors to turn the tables and win from 2-0 down, but Manzano blew the final whistle before the final whistle.
In that moment, Bellingham was able to successfully head the ball into the back of the net, which left Los Blancos players very unhappy with the decision.
Even though the incident happened more than a year ago (March 2024), it seems that the Spanish giants have not forgotten and have opened up criticism of the referee before the game on Sunday.
