Former Chelsea defender Malang Sarr has revealed how he felt ignored by a number of managers at Stamford Bridge and how he felt Mauricio Pochettino forgot who he was when asked about the situation in an interview.

The French defender joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Nice in 2020 after making 119 appearances for the club at the age of 21.

But his time with the Blues was a disappointing one, with Sarr making just 21 appearances for the club in four years, with loan spells at Porto and Monaco in search of regular first-team football.

Upon returning from Monaco, he met with then-new manager Pochettino, but the problem remained as the Argentine failed to recognise the centre-back’s name at a press conference.

Most recently, Sarr, who is aiming to revive his career in France with Lens, shared his thoughts on the brutal rejection in a statement to L’Equipe.

“I feel very bad,” he said. “It shouldn’t have happened.”

“He knows me, he even ยูฟ่าเบท tried to sign me at Spurs. I didn’t ask for an explanation,”

At that press conference, Pochettino was asked about Sarr’s future at Stamford Bridge, but the player’s name slipped from his memory and he replied: ‘Who is that?’
